Description
Honeysuckle Juice is a collaboration between me and my good friend Amanda Regan Lighthiser. When she asked me for topic ideas for the text, I suggested that she write about her (then) current state of pregnancy with her first child. The resultant text ended up being about two simultaneous life transitions – Amanda’s pregnancy and her childhood friend’s battle with cancer – and the subsequent new beginnings from the baby’s birth and her friend’s recovery.
The piece was commissioned by The Concert Singers from Los Angeles, CA, under the direction of Jenni Brandon.
